Las Vegas, NV — The Usman brothers on a future card together? UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman isn’t so sure.

A handful of brothers have fought in the UFC, and there could be another pair very soon. Mohammed Usman is currently competing on the 30th season of The Ultimate Fighter and is one fight away from fighting in the finals for a UFC contract.

However, if Mohammed lands a UFC deal, Kamaru isn’t so sure he’s like to fight on the same card as him.

“I don’t know if I want to fight on the same card as him, you know? If you’ve ever seen my brother in my corner, that’s the ultimate hype man,” Usman told Cageside Press during his UFC 278 pre-fight press conference appearance in Las Vegas on Friday. “I kind of need him. I need my brother there hyping me up too. If it happens, it happens, but I love cornering him. I love being a voice of reason for him, and I love having him in my corner because, you know, you’re not messing me with when my brother is around me.”

“I’m extremely excited. I can’t wait for you guys to see the fighter that he is going to grow into in the heavyweight division.”

A double Usman card would be fun, but Mohammed has to get through Eduardo Perez in the semi-finals first, which takes place in two weeks.

Kamaru Usman, meanwhile, returns to action at UFC 278 against Leon Edwards. The event takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Vivint Arena on August 20, 2022.

“I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t ready to go,” Usman said when asked on Friday about the hand injury that has kept him out of the cage so far this year. “It’s about time to get back in here. I know you guys miss me. I gave you guys a lot in 2021, so in 2022 it’s about time to get the party started.”
