City Kickboxing’s Carlos Ulberg was surprisingly not sharing a card with teammate Israel Adesanya for his latest fight.

Though Adesanya will be in action in a week’s time at UFC 276, Ulberg threw down at the Apex in Las Vegas in the featured preliminary bout of UFC Vegas 57. That saw him paired up with another hard-hitting light heavyweight, Tafon Nchukwi.

Starting things off at a measured pace, Ulberg and Nchukwi traded low kicks early in the opening round. Ulberg snapped out what looked to be a jab a out a minute in — and what was actually a short left hook wobbled Nchukwi! He stumbled backwards; Ulberg moved in for the kill. A blitzkrieg of lefts and rights eventually saw Nchukwi fall face-forward to the canvass, and that was all she wrote.

After stumbling out of the gate, Carlos Ulberg improves to 2-1 inside the octagon, with a modest two-fight win streak in place. Following the bout, he told UFC analyst Michael Bisping that he’d seen some tendencies in Nchukwi that allowed the left hand to land.

Tafon Nchukwi drops to 2-3 inside the octagon with the loss, and has now lost two straight.

Official Result: Carlos Ulberg def. Tafon Nchukwi by TKO (punches), Round 1, 1:15
