Featherweights Ricardo Ramos and Danny Chavez were both seeking a return to the win column at Saturday’s UFC Austin.

The second straight week on the road for the promotion, the Texas affair had Ramos looking to bounce back from a loss to Zubaira Tukhugov — and thrilled to be fighting in front of fans once again.

Chavez was coming off a draw against Kai Kamaka III, and a loss prior to that.

Ramos wasted no time, firing a head kick off the opening bell that was blocked. A second kick, to the body, was caught by Chavez, who landed a strong right hand moments later. Ramos’ kicks were flowing early, with Chavez on the outside as a result. Chavez fanned on a low kick, but a spinning elbow caught Danny Chavez moments later!

Caught, and stopped Chavez. Dead in his tracks! Ramos moved in for the kill, but it was barely necessary. Chavez was out on his feet, and the first punch that followed toppled him like a felled tree.

For Ramos, that’s his second spinning back elbow in the UFC, with the first coming back in 2017 against Aiemann Zahabi. The Chavez finish gives Ramos two of five spinning back elbow stoppages in UFC history.

Official Result: Ricardo Ramos def. Danny Chavez by knockout (spinning back elbow), Round 1, 1:12
