UFC Austin’s Ricardo Ramos Very Excited To Fight In Front Of Crowd Again: “It’s A Different Feeling”

As the coronavirus pandemic wanes and the world continues to return to normal, UFC fighters will finally be fighting in front of sold-out crowds again, and for Ricardo Ramos, that is what it is all about.

The UFC is in front of a sold-out Austin, Texas crowd this weekend, and with that comes several fighters who haven’t fought in front of fans in over two years. Brazil’s Ramos hasn’t fought in front of a completely sold-out crowd since UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs. Jacare in November 2019. Technically he fought in front of a crowd in his last out at UFC 267, but to him, it wasn’t the same.

“F*ck yeah, that’s what I’ve been waiting for, my man, you know, quarantine was crazy. And fighting in quarantine was really cool. But, we want the fans; we want people screaming ‘kill him, kill him’ that’s [what] we like to hear,” Ramos told Cageside Press. “It’s a different feeling. When you have the people in the arena, like, it’s a different atmosphere. It’s that atmosphere which what makes me happy to fight, you know?”

Ramos faces Danny Chavez in what could easily be Fight of the Night at UFC Austin. But “Carcacinha” has had a change in his mindset since his last fight against Zubaira Tukhugov. Ramos does not want to go to the judge’s scorecards anymore and plans to finish Chavez.

“Well, since my last fight, what I have been putting on my mind— it’s more about like changing my mindset. I want to finish the fight; it doesn’t matter how,” Ramos said. “Sometimes we are trying to survive [in a fight], we are trying to get the win like just be a little bit better than the other guy. But I don’t know, I just want to finish the fight. Doesn’t matter how I’m gonna give everything from the first minute and that’s what I’m training for. So, I want to finish the fight doesn’t matter if that’s going to be on the ground or on striking but I want to get the knockout or the submission… I’m really confident that it’s going to be a finish. Early finish. I want to finish the fight doesn’t matter how, but before the time is over.”
