The UFC will hit the road for a Fight Night event in Austin, Texas on June 18, 2022.
After March dates in London, England and Columbus, Ohio, the June event will be the third Fight Night held outside the confines of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada this year. Since the coronavirus pandemic hit western shores in 2020, the promotion has held the bulk of its Fight Night cards in Vegas, with a small handful taking place on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi, and in Jacksonville, Florida, in the early days of the near-global lockdown.
With the world slowly opening up, Austin is the next stop — although the promotion has already been to Houston for a couple of Pay-Per-View events.
The June 18 date in Austin was added to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation’s Combative Sports events calendar on Wednesday. MMA Junkie first reported the news.
The UFC last visited the city in 2018, when Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros topped the UFC Fight Night 126 card. Two other UFC events have taken place in Austin, in 2010 and 2014.
