Sousa is still just an amateur but has still had a much better amateur career than some women competing years as a pro. Sousa has won three IMMAF golf medals – two world championships and one European championship. She’s beat Cecilie Bolander and Michelle Montague twice who are both legit prospects themselves.

There are a lot of positives you can see with Souza, and negatives you can’t find. All her fights aren’t able to be found online but her most important fights are available. On tape, Sousa has spent the majority of her time striking. Her takedown defense has looked stellar and from what I’ve seen of her on the ground she’s very capable. She actually has more submission victories than anything else.

Sousa is so good on the feet, especially with the important aspects like head movement and footwork. Going to the body is something most pros don’t do enough. Sousa is ripping the body at a high level at just an amateur level. Sousa doesn’t hold a KO/TKO stoppage so her power in underrated. She definitely has some pop behind her hands so she will eventually find a finish with her hands.

Today, Sousa could make her pro debut in the UFC and most likely be ranked in the top 15 in two years. I have extremely high praise for Sousa and I think she has the potential to be a future champion.
