Bellator 279: Randi Field Wants Quick Turnaround Fight Coming Off Win

Honolulu, HI – Coming off a submission loss in Arizona in 2021 Bellator flyweight Randi Field grabbed a submission win of her own against Maraya Miller at Bellator 279 on Saturday night.

“It feels a lot better than losing I’ll tell you that. I feel so great! I’m so thankful to my family, my friends, my coaches, gyms, sponsors. Everyone that got me here,” Field told reporters in her post-fight media scrum.

Field solicited the services of a sports psychology center MindLock in order to work on her mental health.

“I worked with MindLock so that was a lot of mental health training because for me last time I can even think back to my last camp and it was kind of a blur to me. I don’t think I was in a good head space and that was something I really focused on this fighting camp,” Field said.

Preparing for this fight against Miller in Hawaii, Field was able to game plan around her opponent’s aggressive fighting style.

“Throughout this camp I knew she was going to come out aggressive and I knew she was strong. I did a lot of research on her. I watched interviews so I kind of had a feel of what her game would be. So we just worked against her game plan of coming in, trying to take me down, which she was very successful in the first round. I know going into the second I did not want to do that again,” said Field.

Field recalled during the fight, when she was on Miller’s back working the choke, that she went was saying the same things her coaches were saying, to herself.

“I just told myself to line my ear up with hers, because I could hear my coach saying it. Are we allowed to swear? No? Yes?,” Field asked.

“I was saying ‘Get the f*ck off me!’ In my head that’s all I was saying. ‘Stay calm’ and ‘Stay the F off me’,” Field laughed.

With two fights left on her Bellator deal Field expressed the want for a quick turnaround from this win.
