Islam Makhachev (21-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC)

Lightweight (155lbs.): 10-1 (UFC), 10-0 (MMA)

Catchweight (160lbs.): 0-0 (MMA)

Catchweight (165lbs.): 1-0 (MMA)

Islam Makhachev has been the perfect portrait of discipline when it comes to making weight for the entirety of his professional MMA career, thus far.

Makhachev, at 5’10” tall with a 70.5″ reach, has fought at lightweight since the first fight of his pro MMA career. And he has never missed weight.

Islam fought outside of 155lbs just one time. In his final fight before moving up to the UFC, he fought for M-1 Global in a catchweight bout at 165lbs back in 2014.

Make absolutely no mistake: Islam has a challenging cut to 155lbs and at 30 years old, it isn’t getting any easier for the Dagestani native. Makhachev often utilizes his full allotted grace pound when weighing in but again, has not missed weight in his professional MMA career and there aren’t really too many signs (outside of aging) to point to Islam missing weight this fight either.

However, despite these facts, Makhachev will be a fighter that fans should keep their eyes on for weigh ins and of course for his fight the following day. It will be interesting to see if the extra pounds give Makhachev a boost.
