15 Female Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2022

Alesha “Half-Pint” Zappitella (Atomweight)

26 | 4’11” | Ypsilanti, Michigan, US | 8-2 | 2 Finishes | 2 Submissions’ (Arm-triangle, Von Flu Choke) | Combined Opponents’ Record: 241-17 | Best win – Jéssica Delboni (10-2)

There are many reasons to start an atomweight division in the UFC, and Zappitella is arguably the main reason. Even if not, Zappitella plans on moving up to strawweight. After two consecutive losses in 2019, she ended 2021 on a four-fight win streak. “Half-Pint” has beat Jillian DeCoursey, Amber Brown, Lindsey VanZandt, Jéssica Delboni, and Ashley Cummins who are all really good fighters. She’s the reigning Invicta FC atomweight champion.

Zappitella started in wrestling before transitioning later into MMA. She stands at 4″11″ but has made up for that with her constant pressure getting into the clinch and fighting her fight. On the feet, she has some power in her overhands but she may struggle at range if she can’t close the distance. She is a fantastic wrestler who has been very impressive on top with her active movement and transitions.

Zappitella did lose her belt in a rematch with Jessica Delboni earlier this month, so she’ll need to bounce back first.
