Jared Scoggins Fired Up Ahead of Debut at Bellator 272

Jared Scoggins (10-1) finally makes his promotional debut at Bellator 272 this Friday.

There’s been a few false starts ahead of his fight against Josh Hill. A fight with Toby Miesch fell through last year when Miesch missed weight. Then twice in 2021, Scoggins, brother of former UFC athlete Justin Scoggins, was forced to withdraw from fights.

“It’s a long time coming, but I’m prepared, I’m fired up, I’m ready to go,” he noted during Wednesday’s Bellator 272 media day.

Against Josh Hill, who has twice the experience of Scoggins, the promotional newcomer knows exactly what he has to do. “I gotta show that I belong at the top of the division. I’ve got to out-perform the main event, I’ve got to show that I belong in that main event spot.”

That’s a tall order, but the bantamweight later suggested he wasn’t feeling any pressure. “This is what I do. Fighting a ranked guy like that [Hill], it kind of takes some of the pressure off me. I feel like he’s going to have some pressure on his shoulder, he’s got to go out there and show that I’m the newbie, I’m unranked. But I’m going to go in there and show that I deserve that spot.”
