A pair of top ten UFC welterweights will take part in a key match-up this December.

MMA Junkie was the first to report that No. 5 ranked welterweight “Wonderboy” Thompson will fight No. 9 Belal Muhammad on December 18 at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus. Muhammad would confirm the booking on social media.

Thompson (16-5-1) had his two-fight win streak snapped at UFC 264 when he lost a unanimous decision to Gilbert Burns. Prior to his most recent loss, “Wonderboy” handed Geoff Neal his first UFC loss via unanimous decision and defeated Vicente Luque at UFC 244.

Muhammad (19-3-1) will be looking to break into the top five welterweight rankings in December. He is riding a five-fight win streak with a no-contest that came against Leon Edwards earlier this year. “Remember the Name” is 2-0-1 in 2021, with his most recent win coming against UFC legend Demian Maia at UFC 263.

UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus will take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV. No broadcast plan has been announced.
