Parker Porter displayed an impressive pace at UFC Vegas 34, pushing forward against Chase Sherman for 15 minutes.

Heavyweights took center stage at UFC Vegas 34 as Chase Sherman faced Parker Porter. Sherman was on the third fight of his second UFC stint, in which he was 1-1 looking to recover from a loss against Andrei Arlovski. Porter is 1-1 in the Octagon, notching his first win with the promotion in his last outing.

Sherman threw a three-strike combination that ended with a kick to start the fight and Porter was visibly bothered by the kick. A step-back left hand staggered Porter and Sherman was in control early. Porter was attempting to land big looping punches, but Sherman was countering with ease. Porter then started jabbing and the overhands began landing. He then forced Sherman to the ground and moved to half guard after a failed keylock attempt. Porter’s top pressure kept Sherman on his back for the final two minutes of the round.

Porter came out and landed a big haymaker combo to start the second round. He pushed forward and landed an overhand right through a Sherman counter. The same sequence kept taking place, with Porter looping overhands with success and Sherman hunting for short counters. Porter changed things up with a pair of takedown attempts but neither were successful. He went back to what got him there and landed more right hands over the top. The accumulation of damage was not the only thing Sherman needed to worry about, as his leg started acting awkwardly towards the end of the round.

A lengthy combination connected for Porter to start the final round and he was in full control of the fight. Sherman’s leg kicks were adding up, but Porter simply continued to land up top. He mixed in a takedown attempt but Sherman stayed on his feet. A kick below the belt from Porter paused the action and then they got right back to it. Porter’s pace did not relent despite the leg kicks from Sherman as he pushed forward until the final bell.
