The saying goes that “Everything is Bigger in Texas,” and the UFC 265 main event between  Derrick Lewis and Ciryl Gane lived up to that quote inside the sold out Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Ciryl Gane has proven with his undefeated record that we are witnessing a new breed of heavyweight inside the UFC Octagon. He has showcased that in taking out big names like Junior Dos Santos, Alexander Volkov and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Those wins earned him a shot at an interim title fight.

Derrick Lewis had been to the top of the UFC heavyweight mountain before, fighting for UFC gold, but unfortunately falling short against the future hall-of-famer Daniel Cormier. This time, he hoped to leave his hometown with UFC gold wrapped around his waist setting up a date to unify the interim title with the current heavyweight king Francis N’Gannou’s belt — who he already has a victory over.

Ciryl Gane turned out to be a huge problem for Derrick Lewis at UFC 265. He silenced the Houston crowd with how technical he was, getting a finish towards the end of the third round. After Gane hurt the leg of Lewis, it was just a matter of time before the fight was stopped as the ref gave Lewis all the chances in the world to fight back — but the damage was done and now Francis N’Gannou is next for Ciryl Gane.
