Jordan Williams is a special case for the weight cutting chronicles series. A 3x Contender Series Alum, Williams stands at 6’1″ and posses a 76.5″ reach. Jordan has never missed weight thus far in his professional MMA career. But Jordan does have Type 1 diabetes. And as a person living with Type 1 diabetes obviously Jordan faces many challenges when in comes to training and fighting (especially with blood loss). But by far the thing that is affected the most by Jordan’s diabetes, in comparison to other pro fighters, is cutting weight.

It is potentially dangerous for Jordan to cut weight and then fight the next day thanks to his diabetes, though he has done it (a little) in the past way earlier in his career. Jordan regularly weighs in well under the 185lbs weight limit when fighting in the weight class and the size disparity shows itself often times in his fights. And now that Jordan is in the UFC, and the skill level of his opponents is that much higher, he has to do something a little bit different to adapt, and keep his UFC roster spot.

Jordan is now 30 years old an for UFC on ESPN 27 he will be making the cut down to 170lbs. for the first time since 2016 as he looks for his first win in the octagon against Mickey Gall.
