A pair of top ten women’s bantamweights will rematch in August.
MMA Fighting was the first to report the news that No. 7 ranked bantamweight Ketlen Vieira will fight Sarah McMann on August 28 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. The pair fought in 2017 at UFC 215, with Vieria coming out on top when she submitted McMann in the second round. McMann would confirm the booking on her Instagram.
After starting her Vieira UFC career out with four victories to keep her undefeated record intact, Vieira (11-2) has lost two of her last three. She suffered her first professional loss at UFC 245 when she was knocked unconscious by Irene Aldana. The Brazilian would bounce back in her only fight in 2020 with a dominant with over Sijara Eubanks on ‘Fight Island.’ Vieira would come up short against Yana Kunitskaya in February, losing a unanimous decision.
McMann (12-6) returned from a two-year layoff and snapped her two-fight losing streak last year at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. dos Santos. She would defeat Lina Länsberg via a unanimous decision. A year later, at UFC 257, this past January, she would be defeated by Julianna Pena via submission. The former Olympian has a chance to avenge her loss to Vieira in the first rematch of her career.
No location, venue, or broadcast details have yet to be announced by the promotion for UFC’s August 28 event. No other fights have been reported outside of Ketlen Vieira vs. Sara McMann.
