Bontorin is a pretty decorated black belt in brazillian jiujitsu and his 11 submissions reflect not only that but his very good transition to MMA, as he started at 18 and is now 28. Rogerio’s highest percentage submission technique is undoubtedly his rear naked choke as he has 8 finishes with the technique to his record. This includes his Contender Series: Brazil win on the 2018 season, in which he received a UFC contract for.

Rogerio Bontorin’s lone finish in the UFC came in his second fight with the promotion. That came after the doctor was forced to stop the fight in the first round (due to a cut) of his bout with Raulian Paiva in August of 2019. Bontorin can often be seen swinging at his opponents and being engaged in standup with little worry, because he knows that he doesn’t have to think about a takedown threat at all. However, fans can expect to see Bontorin to take the fight to the ground as he goes against Kai Kara-France, from the extremely decorated City Kickboxing Gym, at UFC 259.
