Mayra Bueno Silva was a former Batalha MMA (BMMA) Bantamweight Champion before getting her shot on the 2018 season of the Contender Series. Mayra won the fight via submission with a ninja choke over her then 7-0 opponent, Mayana Souza. And Mayra won her UFC debut against Gillian Robertson a little over a month after winning a contract on the Contender Series. After Mayra’s first loss in March of 2020 she bounced back with another first round armbar submission over Mara Borella.
The armbar is Silva’s best weapon and she is super effective at getting a finish from the technique, especially early in the fight, before the fighters start sweating. Mayra has four armbar submissions on her record and all of them are in under 2.5 minutes.
