Every fighter has their go-to moves, especially specialists within certain martial arts disciplines. Their own signature styles can lead to spectacular finishes. Whether it’s a scary-good rear-naked choke that fighters just can’t seem to avoid once going to the ground or crazy power in a straight left hand that has dropped even granite-chinned fighters with ease, each fighter has a particular finishing move or sequence. Moves that have stuck in fan’s minds and come to define and describe their careers within the cage.
For UFC Vegas 19 we will take a look at some fighters with only a few (5 or less) fights in the UFC, rather than those fighters that are long-time UFC veterans with a bunch of finishes with the promotion.
Darrick Minner (25-11 MMA, 1-1 UFC)
Total Number of Pro MMA Finishes: 23
Via KO/TKO: 1
Via Submission: 22
Total Number of UFC Finishes: 1
Via KO/TKO: 0
Via Submission: 1
(T.J. Laramie)
Darrick Minner is a rarity in high level MMA. You rarely see such a high submission win finish rate at this level of the sport, but Minner surely does have 22 submission wins to his record.
Minner is a veteran fighter though it is worth noting that a lot of his opponents have not had the best records, as experienced as they might be. Minner is a veteran of the LFA promotion and competed, unsuccessfully, on the 2019 season of the Contender Series. After losing his UFC debut, Darrick finished T.J. Laramie in under a minute with a guillotine choke last September. Minner is exciting to watch, and goes for the submission finish in every fight that he is in. Fans should expect nothing less for his fight against Charles Rosa at UFC Vegas 19.
Jumping for this gilly got @DarrickMinner the first-round sub and probably brought a tear to @DustinPoirier's eye 😯 #UFCVegas11 pic.twitter.com/473VszbggH
