After the loss of not one, not two, but three main event fights (Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling, Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson, and Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns), the UFC was able to salvage the UFC 256 headliner with a high profile match-up. And in the end, it turned out for the best. Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno took center stage at the event, with Figueiredo coming into the night showing the world he is a fighting champion by defending his flyweight championship on just 21 days notice.

Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno both jumped at the chance for a quick turn around to keep their momentum going strong, looking to be the one to ride out the rest of the year as UFC Flyweight champion. And the end result was a Fight of the Year candidate.

Figueiredo and Moreno started out with a fast pace and kept it up throughout the fight, going the distance in a wildly entertaining brawl. Both men connected with heavy shots, hurting one another. Each fighter had their moments through all five rounds. With a point deducted from the champ care of a low blow, it felt like a draw could be in the cards. And that is exactly what transpired in the end. Deiveson Figueiredo held onto his title thanks to the majority draw, which means we will likely see these two go to war again once they are healed up.
