In just a matter of weeks, Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno are turning around to headline the UFC 256 card.

Both fighters fought in November, at UFC 255. But after Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson, Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling, and whatever else the UFC threw at their final Pay-Per-View of 2020 failed to stick, it’s the flyweights to the rescue.

Maybe the UFC will remember this the next time they consider abolishing the division.

Champ Figueiredo, fresh off his first title defense against Alex Perez, may represent the most marketable 125lb champion the UFC has ever seen. Oh, Mighty Mouse broke records and was rarely in danger in fights, and Triple C collected gold like trading cards — both were superbly marketable in their own right. But the Brazilian does one thing better than any other flyweight: he knocks people out, when he’s not choking them out.

All but one of “The God of War’s” UFC wins has come via finish, in fact. A tough but not insurmountable task for Mexico’s Moreno to overcome. The clear underdog in this story, Moreno is on his second stint with the UFC, but coming off a TKO victory of his own.

Weigh-in for UFC 256 kicks off at 12PM ET on Friday. Check below for results.

All fighters made weight Friday morning, including back-up fighter Manel Kape, who made championship weight and will be available if necessary to step into the main event.
