Taila Santos Shows Respect for Opponent’s “Warrior Heart” Ahead of UFC Vegas 16

Brazil’s Taila Santos was originally scheduled to face Maryna Moroz at UFC Vegas 16 this weekend. But with Moroz out, she is now lined up with Montana De La Rosa, the 15th ranked women’s flyweight in the UFC.

Santos (16-1) is “used to it already, with opponents changing,” she told Cageside Press this week. Her fight with Molly McCann was “exactly the same,” she noted via translator during the UFC Vegas 16 media day. “The opponent changed a couple weeks before the fight. And this time wasn’t different.” With that in mind, it’s not a big deal for her, said Santos.

Asked about her latest opponent, “Montana is a very good fighter,” said Santos, adding that she “respects her very much.” That is due to what Taila Santos referred to as her opponent’s “warrior heart.”

“It doesn’t matter if the fight’s not going her way,” explained the Brazilian. “She never gives up and she’s always moving forward and always trying to bring it.” Which has Taila Santos looking forward to the pair’s fight on Saturday, she added.
