Cynthia Calvillo (9-1-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC)

Strawweight (115lbs): 5-1-1 Missed weight two times

Flyweight (125lbs): 1-0 (UFC)

Calvillo began her pro MMA career in the flyweight division and fought in even heavier weight classes as an amateur. After winning her pro strawweight debut in early 2017, Calvillo was added to the UFC’s strawweight roster.

Calvillo took less than a year to climb the ranks of the strawweight division before suffering the first loss of her career in a title eliminator bout against former UFC champion Carla Esparza.

After taking about a year away from competition, Calvillo missed weight ahead of her bout with Poliana Botelho in November of 2018. Cynthia weighed in at 118lbs for the bout, but was able to secure a first-round finish against her opponent the following day.

After making weight in her next bout, Calvillo again missed weight ahead of her bout against Marina Rodriguez in December of 2019. This time, Cynthia missed weight by the widest of margins, coming in at 120.5lbs. Needless to say, after a majority draw the next night, Calvillo was well aware that it was her last outing in the strawweight division. Calvillo was 32 years old for this bout.

Ahead Cynthia’s most recent bout, and her first at flyweight in the UFC, she definitely looked less drained than usual. This resulted in a unanimous decision win over Jessica Eye the following night.

Cynthia Calvillo will be competing in just her second bout within the UFC’s flyweight division at UFC 255 and with a win against Katlyn Chookagian, she could very well be next in line for a title shot.
