Pros React to Glover Teixeira’s Submission Victory at UFC Vegas 13

The UFC Light Heavyweight division is seemingly on hold with the news of the super fight  between Jan Błachowicz and Israel Adesanya being scheduled for sometime in 2021. Love it or hate it, the promotion sees money to be made in the bout. Making it the prime time for contenders to emerge in this weight class. That was the case at UFC Vegas 13 on Saturday.

The winner of Thiago Santos vs. Glover Teixeira looks to have a chance once again to slip back into the title picture. For Santos and Teixeira, coming into Saturday the feeling was familiar, as both fighters were no stranger to challenging for gold. Santos challenged Jon Jones last year. Teixeira, a few years back. After one more win they could be hearing Dana White make the decision to name them the number one contender for the winner of Błachowicz vs. Adesanya.

What transpired Saturday at UFC Vegas 13 was a thrilling back-and-forth main event between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira. Glover looked to have the blueprint figured out after being rocked early on in the first round with his amazing grappling skills. But Santos had some fight left in him as he once again reminded Glover of the sledgehammers he has in his fists early in the third. Santos dropped Teixeira once again but Teixeira stayed true to what won him rounds one and two, locking in a rear-naked choke 1:49 into round three with his grappling.
