The illustrious UFC light heavyweight championship has previously been held by MMA greats and pioneers like Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell. This past August, long time champ Jon Jones left it vacant, and so the search began. It didn’t take Dana White and the UFC long to know exactly which men the company would look to pass the torch to and give the opportunity to continue the historic legacy the title has had over the years. Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz were not gifted a shot for the title by sheer panic from the UFC; their hard work and the devastating fashion in which they left their opponents made it a no brainer to match these men together at UFC 253, the company’s return to Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

Dominick Reyes walked into the Octagon looking to continue his momentum from the battle with Jon Jones waged at UFC 247, a fight that’s outcome was heavily debated.

Jan Blachowicz had been on a tear in the UFC Light heavyweight division, and finally got his moment to try and prove to the world that the UFC belt belongs around his waist.

All Jan Blachowicz needed was two rounds to capture the UFC light heavyweight championship. Kicks to the body, and power in the hands, made the difference against Reyes. Even before the belt was placed on his waist, he was asking Jon Jones “Where are you?” Impressive win for Jan to become a UFC world champion.

Here is how the pros reacted to the crowning of the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.
