We finally got to see the fight between Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill. As a main event, no less.
Some MMA fans were disappointed with the loss of what was going to be a intense fight between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira before Glover tested positive for COVID-19. But how sweet it was, if you have been following fan favourites like Michelle Waterson and Angela Hill, to have what was already an exciting co-main event switched to the headliner.
Right as the fight started Hill came out firing shots, connecting on Waterson with those ferocious punches. Waterson showed heart with her attempts of takedowns, even getting one in the third which seemingly won her that round. She went into round four to tie it up two rounds a piece going into the fifth.
Waterson and Hill were both looking to get back into the win column on Saturday as they both wanted to remind the world of the caliber of skills they bring to the strawweight division. It was Michelle Waterson who seemed to want it more with a hard fought split decision victory, putting her stamp on why she should have her name reinserted as a contender for the title.
