UFC Vegas 7: Amanda Lemos Hoping for One More Fight This Year

Las Vegas, NV — Brazil’s Amanda Lemos earned her second straight win at UFC Vegas 7 over the weekend. Going the distance against Japan’s Mizuki Inoue, the former bantamweight has finally built up a bit of steam, after suffering a defeat against Leslie Smith to start her stint in the octagon. That was followed by a suspension from USADA.

Lemos now has wins over Inoue and Miranda Granger within the past nine months.

“I’m very happy with my performance. I trained a lot, I trained very hard, and I’m very happy that I succeeded,” she said post-fight, speaking to members of the media.

On her opponent, Inoue, a former Invicta FC standout who Lemos came close to finishing in the first round, the Brazilian stated that “she’s very tough, and she actually managed to stay on the ground, and breathe. That’s how she actually kept in the fight.”

Overall, said Lemos, “we had a very good fight, three rounds, and I’m happy I got the win.”

After missing so much time earlier in her UFC run — two years from the USADA suspension for steroid stanozolol — Lemos clearly wants to stay busy.

“I want to fight again this year — October, November, December. It’s up to the UFC,” she said. Her plan is to “go back to [my] family for a week, then I’ll go back to training camp.”
