The main event of UFC Vegas 7 features tough bantamweight Pedro Munhoz welcoming former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar to the 135lb. ranks. Munhoz has won seven of his last nine fights, only losing to Aljamain Sterling and John Dodson, but also had COVID-19 in the lead-up to this bout. After losing in three of his last four appearances, Edgar has been trying to drop down to bantamweight all year. He’ll finally get to do so tonight. Edgar was picked by five of eight writers.
The co-main event features Ovince Saint Preux taking on up-and-coming light heavyweight Alonzo Menifield. Saint Preux lost in his heavyweight debut last time out and moves back to 205 tonight having lost three of his last four. Menifield ran through his first two UFC opponents in the first round, but had his streak halted by Devin Clark in his last fight. OSP was picked by five of eight writers.
Mike Rodriguez battles Marcin Prachnio on the main card. Rodriguez is 1-2 with one no contest (originally a loss) since joining the promotion following a stunning flying knee on the Contender Series. Prachnio was 4-0 with three stoppages in ONE Championship before jumping over to the Octagon. Since then, he’s been stopped twice. All but one writer picked Rodriguez.
In a very short notice fight, Daniel Rodriguez and Dwight Grant open the main card. Grant is 2-1 with a win over Alan Jouban and will be fighting for the first time in nearly a year and a half. Rodriguez is on an eight-fight win streak that includes a submission victory over veteran Tim Means. Rodriguez was unanimously picked.
Due to its late addition to the main card, Mariya Agapova vs. Shana Dobson was not picked.
