Kevin Holland “Double Ready” for UFC Vegas 6 After Fight Last Week Fell Through

Kevin Holland is definitely good to go this weekend at UFC Vegas 6. Or, as he put it at the event’s media day, “I was ready last week, so I guess I’m double ready this week.”

Here’s how we got here: Holland (17-5) was supposed to Trevin Giles last weekend in the UFC’s first show back in Vegas following Fight Island. Giles, however, fainted just before the fight, and was not cleared for the bout.

Holland was willing to fight just about anyone, even up a weight class against Ed Herman, whose own opponent had dropped out just prior to the fight. But Herman was a couple drinks into blowing off some steam by that point.

“Things happen, it is what it is,” Holland observed. Now, he returns against promotional newcomer Joaquin Buckley.

“I always say ‘let’s go, bucko!’ I guess I’ve been saying it wrong, I should have been saying “let’s go, Buckley!'” Holland said regarding his new opponent. He’s been watching a bit of tape on Buckley, when not gaming that is.

But when it comes to the fight this weekend, Holland sees several paths to victory. “I definitely look forward to flooring him with the right hand, and if I don’t floor him with the right hand, I definitely look forward to testing out my new black belt skills.”

UFC Vegas 6 takes place Saturday, August 8, airing live on ESPN+ (TSN in Canada).
