The UFC’s September 5 card has added a featherweight fight with explosive potential. One that features a couple of bantamweights.

Brian Kelleher and Ricky Simon are set to throw down at the event, as first reported by MMA Fighting. The event does not yet have an official location, name or designation. However, the UFC is expected to host a number of September shows at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. An application for September 5 has been made with the NSAC.

Kelleher (21-11) has been staying busy during the pandemic, having fought twice already. He split a pair of fights between May and early June, defeating Hunter Azure then falling to Cody Stamann. The Azure fight earned “Boom” a Fight of the Night bonus.

Overall, Kelleher is 5-4 in the UFC, and holds a memorable win over former bantamweight champ Renan Barao.

Ricky Simon (16-3) will be fighting for the second time since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. He snapped a two-fight skid back in Jacksonville, Florida in May thanks to a split decision win over Ray Borg. Prior to that, he’d come up short against Rob Font and Urijah Faber.

The UFC’s September 5 event currently includes the following reported bouts:

Nicco Montaño vs. Julia Avila
Maryna Moroz vs. Montana De La Rosa
Michel Pereira vs. Zelim Imadaev
Mayra Bueno Silva vs. Mara Romero Borella
Sijara Eubanks vs. Macy Chiasson
Bartosz Fabinski vs. Andre Muniz
