Jesse Ronson picked up a big submission victory in the first round against Nicolas Dalby on the UFC Fight Island 3 preliminary card from Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

One of two Canadian fighters on the UFC Fight Island 3 card, Jesse Ronson was making his return to the promotion for the first time since 2014. “The Body Snatcher” had since competed for the PFL, and had nearly given up on his MMA career before getting the call for Fight Island.

Welcoming him back to action, meanwhile, was Danish welterweight Nicolas Dalby. The first round opened up with both men exchanging heavy shots inside the pocket right off the bat. The shots continued and slowly the pace began to wind down. Dalby connected with a few sidekicks to the body before clinching up with Ronson. They separated and again began to exchange inside the pocket. Ronson dropped Dalby with a counter shot and fell right onto him in side control. Ronson was able to get off some elbows before transitioning into full mount. After a scramble, Ronson locked in the rear-naked choke after taking the back, forcing Dalby to tap out.

Official Result: Jesse Ronson def. Nicolas Dalby via R1 submission (rear-naked choke, 2:48)
