Vanessa “Miss Simpatia” Melo (10-7 MMA, 0-2 UFC)
Bantamweight (135lbs): 0-2 (UFC), Missed weight one time
Vanessa Melo has not had good luck thus far in her UFC career, as far as weight cutting is concerned. Melo missed weight for her UFC debut against Irene Aldana back in September of 2019, missing the bantamweight 136lbs. limit, by four pounds. To add insult to injury, Vanessa was soundly defeated that night in a lopsided unanimous decision.
Vanessa also weighted in heavy for her most recent bout against Tracy Cortez back in November of 2019. But this was later overturned after it was found that the scale used for weigh-ins was faulty, and Melo had actually made weight along with her opponent. Vanessa again lost a very onesided unanimous decision. Melo will be looking for her first win in the UFC when she takes on, Karol Rosa on July 11 at UFC 251 in the bantamweight division.
#Breaking: The CABMMA has released a statement saying a calibration issue with their scale led to the weight misses of Tracy Cortez and Vanessa Melo. https://t.co/KqcZUGiThY
