Mackenzie Dern (7-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC)

Strawweight (115lbs): 1-1 (UFC), Missed weight one time in the UFC and twice with other promotions

Catchweight (123lbs): 1-0 (UFC)

Flyweight (125lbs): 1-0 outside the UFC

Mackenzie Dern is very well known in the UFC for her grappling skills but as of late, has also been attracting a lot of attention on weigh-in day. Mackenzie missed weight for her second UFC fight, back in May of 2018 against Amanda Cooper. Though she missed weight by a whole 7lbs, the bout was turned into a catchweight fight and continued as planned. Dern ended up pulling off a first-round rear-naked choke finish over Cooper, who was absolutely furious (and rightly so) that Dern had missed weight the day prior.

At 5’4″ with a 63″ reach, Dern has a medium build that makes her weight cut to 115lbs particularly taxing. Mackenzie also gave birth to a daughter in June of 2019 making her battle with weight cutting that much more difficult. Since the birth of her daughter, Mackenzie Dern has had only one fight, and it was her first loss. Amanda Ribas soundly defeated Dern in October of last year, by both out striking her and thwarting off her takedown attempts. Mackenzie had no trouble on the scale for that bout and is again electing to stay at 115lbs for her fight against Hannah Cifers at UFC Vegas.
