The only fight card of note moving forward this week is Cage Warriors 113 in the U.K. The card was originally scheduled for London, England on Friday but was ultimately shifted to Manchester due to the original venue shutting its doors (thanks, coronavirus). Now, the card — which had picked up a pair of UFC fights in the wake of that promotion’s London card being cancelled — has undergone another shake-up.
In a press release Wednesday, the promotion revealed that the UFC middleweight scrap between Darren Stewart and Bartosz Fabinski would now headline the Cage Warriors 113 card. Both men were originally scheduled for UFC London, against different opponents. With that card falling through, the UFC has opted to allow this rare instance of cross-promotion — which at least allows the fighters to get paid. Stewart vs. Fabinski was announced earlier in the week, but it was not expected to headline.
The evening’s co-main event will be a lightweight title fight between Mason Jones and Joe McColgan. Like the main event pair, Jones and McGolgan originally had different opponents.
John Phillips vs. Dusko Todorovic, a fight also picked up from UFC London, has been cancelled. So has Morgan Charrière vs. Darko Banovic and Samir Faiddine vs. Luke Shank. In the end, a card with a trio of title fights originally is now down to one. Travel restrictions and the virus in general are to blame.
Cage Warriors 113 takes place Friday, March 20 at the BEC Arena in Manchester, England. The event airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
