Two titans in the heavyweight division, Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov, will clash inside the octagon on June 20, 2020. The pair are set to headline UFC Fight Night 177 (UFC Saskatoon) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Blaydes posted about the fight on his Instagram a few days after rumors of the fight began to make the rounds. The event is the UFC’s first in Canada for 2020.

Curtis Blaydes (13-2, 1NC) is riding a three-fight win streak after his second round TKO victory over former UFC Heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos back in January. Some might say this is a risky move, putting his contender status in jeopardy if he happens take a loss to Volkov. It does make sense though, as who knows how long of a wait it will be while DC and Stipe figure out a date for their trilogy.

Alexander Volkov (31-7) could swoop in and steal the momentum from under Blaydes with a victory inside the SaskTel Centre. Volkov bounced back after his loss to Derrick Lewis by getting a decision victory last November over Greg Hardy. If Volkov can execute a stellar game plan and capture a victory over a surging Blaydes, his stock will rise exponentially within the UFC.

The booking is another step towards the heavyweight division becoming more and more relevant after it seemed to have stalled the past couple of years.

Here is the UFC Saskatoon fight card so far:

Curtis Blaydes vs. Alexander Volkov
Gillian Robertson vs. Taila Santos
Marc-Andre Barriault vs. Oskar Piechota
