The UFC Norfolk medical suspensions are in after this past weekend’s event from Virginia.

Unfortunately, mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will have to wait for a new flyweight champion to be crowned. Initially, the headliner between Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez was set to determine who the new king of the flyweights would be. However, Figueiredo missed weight for the contest, thus making him ineligible to win the title should he emerge victorious. Benavidez, who did make weight, was the only fighter eligible to become 125-pound champion should he have won.

Of course, that’s not how things played out, as Figueiredo put Benavidez away in the second round with a TKO. Now, the 125-pound throne remains vacant, and Benavidez has been handed a 90-day suspension by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.
