It’s Sarj vs. Cheesecake at UFC 249, as Sarah Moras is set to face Sijara Eubanks at bantamweight.
April’s UFC 249 continues to grow, with the latest addition seeing Canada’s Sarah Moras taking on Ultimate Fighter alum Sijara Eubanks. Newsday was first to report the match-up on Thursday.
Just a week ago, Moras (6-5) posted a note on Instagram asking her fans who they wanted to see her share the octagon with next. The bantamweight snapped a three-fight losing streak in her last appearance, earning a TKO victory over Liana Jojua at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi back in September 2019.
However, detracting from that win was Moras missing weight for the 135lb affair.
Moras will now head into a scrap with a fighter with a history of weight struggles, who has actually moved up a division in an attempt to leave them all behind her. Sijara Eubanks (4-4) was pulled from her 2017 title fight with Nicco Montano at the Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale when she suffered kidney issues during her weight cut. Losing out on a chance to become the inaugural women’s flyweight champion in the UFC, she’d push forward in the division, but miss weight for her UFC 230 fight with Roxanne Modafferi.
That led to a return to the bantamweight division, where she had competed a times prior to the UFC. Since her return to 135lbs, however, Eubanks has gone 0-2, losing to both Aspenn Ladd and Bethe Correia.
UFC 249 takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 18, 2020. Khabib Nuragomedov is expected to defend his lightweight title (finally) against Tony Ferguson (knock on wood) in the main event.
Currently anticipated for the UFC 249 card are:
Khabib Nurmagomedov (c) vs. Tony Ferguson
Jéssica Andrade vs. Rose Namajunas
Uriah Hall vs. Ronaldo Souza
Ben Rothwell vs. Gian Villante
Khama Worthy vs. Ottman Azaitar
Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Ciryl Gane
