Bellator MMA returned to Honolulu, Hawaii on Friday with the first of back-to-back cards.
The first of two back-to-back Bellator MMA events kicked off Friday, with Bellator USO: Salute the Troops (or simply Bellator 235: Barnett vs. Markes) going down at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii. The card marked the debut of heavyweight veteran Josh Barnett, a former UFC champion, taking on another debuting UFC alum in Ronny Markes.
The co-main event featured the debut of Erik Perez, as he looked to make an immediate impact on Bellator’s bantamweight division against Toby Misech. Familiar names like Alejandra Lara, Tywan Claxton, and Joey Davis were also set to appear.
Earlier in the night, the event boasted a three-fight preliminary portion, featuring names like Cass Bell. An undefeated bantamweight prospect, Bell (4-0) trained under former Strikeforce standout Josh Thompson, and had spent his entire pro career inside the confines of the Bellator cage.
