Billy Quarantillo impressed in his promotional debut at UFC DC, dominating then submitting short notice opponent Jacob Kilburn.
Debuting fighters will battle at UFC DC as Billy Quarantillo faces Jacob Kilburn. Quarantillo had a standout performance on the Contender Series, winning by third-round knockout and earning a contract at 12-2. Kilburn is filling in for Chris Fishgold, who pulled out with an injury. Kilburn is 8-2 and has knocked out his last two opponents.
Quarantillo landed a leg kick then a body shot and Kilburn clinched up with him. Quarantillo pushed him to the cage but Kilburn reversed position. Kilburn dropped down for a takedown, then Quarantillo snatched up his neck with a front headlock. Kilburn was staying on his feet, but Quarantillo got him down after transitioning to a d’arce choke and nearly had it, but Kilburn broke free. Quarantillo swung around to mount from side control and Kilburn was simply squirming around. He wasn’t making it easy for Quarantillo, who was controlling every aspect of the fight and nearly finished a rear-naked choke. After being in many dangerous positions, Kilburn somehow survived the first five minutes.
Kilburn threw a body kick right away in the second round, and Quarantillo turned it into a takedown. Quickly he got into full mount and got right to work. Kilburn got to half guard and started working on an arm-triangle. Kilburn spun but exposed his back. Quarantillo kept flowing. He went for an armbar, then locked up the triangle choke. A dominant performance for Quarantillo, who was awarded his brown belt afterwards.
