Corey Anderson vs. Jan Blachowicz is in the works to headline UFC Rio Rancho.

UFC Rio Rancho looks like it may have its main event. A bout between Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz is being targeted to headline the show on February 15, 2020. This fight could very well be a number one contender fight for who gets a crack at the Light Heavyweight champion next. The news was first reported by Brett Okamoto (@bokamotoESPN) on Monday.

Jan Blachowicz (#6 Ranked UFC Light Heavyweight) currently holds a 25-8 professional MMA record. He has won six of his last seven bouts, with his last loss coming at the hands of Thiago Santos in February. Blachowicz recently welcomed Jacare Souza to the Light Heavyweight division in November and won via split decision.

Corey Anderson (#5 Ranked UFC Light Heavyweight) currently holds a 13-4 professional MMA record. He has won four straight fights. His last loss was against Ovince St. Preux in November of 2017. In November, Anderson won a huge bout against Johnny Walker via TKO.

This is a rematch from a fight that took place in 2015, where Corey Anderson won via unanimous decision. Both men are eyeing a potential showdown with the winner of the Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes bout. The winner of this fight could very well be the next opponent and get the opportunity to fight for the belt. Should this fight become official, UFC Rio Rancho will be getting a nice treat for their main event.
