LXF 3’s Alfred Kashakyan: “I Got the Crown, so I Make the Choices”

Undefeated since losing to Sean O’Malley on the Contender Series, Alfred Kashakyan has added gold under the LXF banner to his resume.

Commerce, CA — Alfred Kashakyan claimed featherweight gold over the weekend at LXF 3. The Glendale Fighting Club athlete, training under Edmund Tarverdian, made it eleven knockouts in the process, an obscene 100% finish rate in a sport that usually sees fighters go to decision at least now and then.

Not Kashakyan (11-4), however. The 31-year old could finally be primed to break into the big leagues as a result, with the title fight win against A.J. Bryant being the icing on the cake.

He’s come close before. If the Kashakyan name sounds familiar, it’s because he faced Sean O’Malley back on the Contender Series in 2017. He was on the wrong end of the knockout that night. He hasn’t lost since.

Speaking to Cageside Press following his LXF 3 main event victory, Kashakyan said the knockouts just come naturally. “When I punch, I make sure I punch him so that I can put him out. I’m not here to play games or do techniques. We’re here to fight, I fight. That’s how I became the crowned king.”

His strategy for the title fight against Bryant was to come out firing. “He’s the type of guy that fights long rounds, gets people tired. So I knew if I gave it to him hard the first round— his head was open, I saw the punch,” said Kashakyan. “So I made sure I threw everything I got, so once I connect, I know I’m going to put him to sleep. That’s what you saw today.”

Fighting since he was 7 years old, with a background in Muay Thai, Alfred Kashakyan is now looking for bigger things quite possibly. “I got leverage now. We’ll wait to see who calls up, what offers we get. I’m willing to fight anywhere, if they give me what I’m worth.”

There’s a good chance he gets that call. Kashakyan’s losses have come to the best of the best, including O’Malley, Ricardo Ramos, and Juan Archuleta, fighting for a Bellator title later this week. One thing is certain, however: he’s in the driver’s seat. “I got the crown, so I make the choices,” he said.
