A key flyweight bout between Matt Schnell and Alexandre Pantoja is set to go down on the UFC Busan card in South Korea this December.

Last month, we spoke to Matt Schnell, who expressed interest in fighting either Deiveson Figueiredo or Alexandre Pantoja after their Fight of the Night showing at UFC 240. Following a solid performance of his own at UFC Newark, ‘Danger’ is getting his wish. On Thursday, Combate was first to report that Schnell has been paired up with Pantoja, who was on the losing end of his bout with Brazil’s Figueiredo back in July. The pairing will see the flyweights collide at UFC Busan in South Korea later this year.

Schnell confirmed the news on social media, suggesting that the fight was destined to be a “complete banger.”

Schnell (14–4) is the winner of four straight under the UFC banner. In his most recent outing he submitted Jordan Espinosa in Newark via a triangle, earning his first Performance of the Night bonus in the process. Having ventured up to bantamweight one fight prior, the Espinosa bout marked his return to the 125lb division.

Pantoja (21–4) had won three straight fights of his own, including one against former title challenger Wilson Reis, before falling to Figueiredo.

UFC Busan (UFC Fight Night 165 / UFC on ESPN+ 23) takes place in Busan, South Korea at the Sajik Arena on December 21, 2019. The event marks the first time the promotion has visited the South Korean city.
