Mara Romero Borella looks to start a win streak at UFC 240 when she takes on Lauren Murphy, who is 1-1 since moving to flyweight.

Combate first reported the addition to UFC 240.

The UFC women’s flyweight division is still in its early stages, leading to most matchups being between ranked fighters, like this one. Lauren Murphy comes in as the eighth-ranked flyweight while Mara Romero Borella is 12th. However, Borella is 2-1 in the Octagon at flyweight while Murphy is just 1-1.

Lauren Murphy originally joined the promotion as an 8-0 Invicta champion with six knockouts. That success did not carry over to the Octagon, as she went 1-3 in the bantamweight division with a loss to Katlyn Chookagian. The rough start sparked a career move for Murphy, who then joined the cast of The Ultimate Fighter 26, which would introduce a women’s flyweight division to the UFC. Murphy was eliminated in the first round of the tournament by eventual champion Nicco Montano. She did, however, stay on the roster and defeated women’s MMA legend Barb Honchak in her Octagon return, but is coming off a loss to Sijara Eubanks.

Mara Romero Borella is an Italian flyweight who has won eight of her last nine fights. The American Top Team product joined the UFC in 2017 after headlining an Invicta card. She made a splash immediately, submitting Kalindra Faria in the first round, but lost to top contender Katlyn Chookagian in her next fight. Borella bounced back in February with a victory over Talia Santos.

UFC 240 takes place on July 27 from the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. There are three additional bouts reported for the card as of now, with the headliner being a featherweight title fight between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar. Erik Koch will also (hopefully) fight Kyle Stewart, and Gillian Robertson takes on Sarah Frota in a flyweight contest.
