Melissa Gatto is looking to make her promotional debut at UFC 237 in Brazil a big one! Taking on Talita Bernado on short notice, Gatto will have to fight her fight to remain undefeated.

UFC 237 is just around the corner. As it draws near, we get more and more involved looking at the fights on the card and the newcomers on the card. Melissa Gatto is one such newcomer. She’s replacing Jessica-Rose Clark on short notice, facing off against Talita Bernardo to open up the card. Gatto is 6-0-2 coming into the fight and looks to make a big statement in her UFC debut.

Gatto got her start in MMA because of other family members who were involved. “I started in the martial arts because my older brother was training and I wanted to train too,” says Gatto. She’s since moved on to a great start professionally. Gatto has wins by armbar and kimura, most recently in Cyborg’s MMA event back in September.

While unexpected, getting the call from the UFC was a dream come true for Melissa Gatto. “Signing with the UFC was something incredible. I did not expect this opportunity to emerge later this year.” But don’t let that fool you. She is incredibly grateful for the chance to compete at the highest level in her own back yard. “I’m very happy for the opportunity with the organization and to be able to debut on such a sensational card.”

Fighting in your home country brings its own unique set of pressures. But, Gatto is dedicated to staying focused on the fight and her game plan for UFC 237. “I am preparing for everything. She is more experienced than I am in the organization, but I’m training a lot to get there and to impose my strategy.” And that is just what Gatto will need to win her debut in the UFC. Staying strategic should get her arm raised at the end of the night.

In the main event, Rose Namajunas takes on Jessica Andrade in what is sure to be a hell of a fight. Namajunas, the defending champ, goes into the back yard of Jessica Andrade, hoping to get the job done much to the dismay of the hometown crowd. Melissa Gatto weighed on on the fight as well. “I believe it will be a great fight. They are two great athletes and I’m sure it will be a show.” Only time will tell, and time is ticking away to UFC 237.
