Former lightweight champ Brent Primus will meet England’s own Tim Wilde in the main event of Bellator: Birmingham this May.

Bellator just wrapped up its latest trip to Newcastle, England, and already, the promotion has announced its next visit to Britain. Over the weekend, Bellator officials revealed that it would head to Birmingham next, with former lightweight champion Brent Primus taking on England’s own Tim Wilde. The event will go down on May 4, 2019, at the Resorts World Arena.

Former champ Primus (8-1) is coming off the first loss of his career at Bellator 212 in Hawaii this past December. That loss came at the hands of Michael Chandler, from whom Primus won the Bellator lightweight championship in June 2017. A lengthy layoff ensued.

Not so this time. Primus, who won the first bout with Chandler via TKO due to a leg injury, could earn himself a rubber match with a big performance in Birmingham. After all, Chandler has already cleaned out a good chunk of the lightweight division, though either of the Pitbull brothers remain an option.

Tim Wilde (12-3) might have something to say about that, however. He’s won three straight on the regional circuit in the UK, and will be making his promotional debut on home turf.

More bouts are expected to be announced for Bellator: Birmingham in the coming weeks.
