Pedro Carvalho continued to find success in the cage Saturday, submitting opponent Luca Vitali within a minute.
Lightweight action featured on the Bellator 211 card in Genoa, Italy on Saturday when Luca Vitali took on Portugal’s Pedro Carvalho. It was Vitali’s debut in the promotion, while Carvalho was hoping to build off a win in his promotional debut at Bellator 200 earlier this year.
Carvalho was launching kicks across the midsection early. Vitali briefly took Carvalho down, after catching a kick, but they popped right back up again. Another kick to the body followed by Carvalho, who then jumped guard and went straight for a guillotine. Vitali wasn’t defending, instead just holding his opponent’s weight. That allowed Carvalho to finish the choke as Vitali dropped to his knees.
It was the second straight bout at Bellator 211 to finish to finish in under a minute, and pushed Carvalho into the top ten for fastest submissions in Bellator history.
After the fight, Carvalho took to the mic, saying “so the thing is like this. I am the best in the world, period. Fight after fight, I don’t talk sh*t. Fight after fight, I prove that I’m the best. I prove fight after fight that I’m the best. 145, 155, I prove it.” He added that the featherweight division is next, and he plans to clean it out.
