With Maryna Moroz forced out of her fight with Ariane Lipski at UFC Fight Night 140, ‘The Violence Queen’ has a new date: UFC 233, against Joanne Calderwood.

January’s UFC 233 continues to grow. In addition to the recently reported Henry Cejudo vs. T.J. Dillashaw (for the UFC flyweight championship), and Yana Kunitskaya vs. Marion Reneau, the promotion is apparently targeting a women’s flyweight fight between Ariane Lipski and Joanne Calderwood. Lowking.pl first reported the news, which was later confirmed by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Lipski was supposed to make her UFC debut in just a few week’s time. However, the former KSW flyweight champion was pulled from the UFC Argentina when opponent Maryna Moroz suffered a broken foot. Now, ‘The Violence Queen’ will get to make her debut against a higher profile opponent in ‘JoJo,’ Joanne Calderwood.

A nine fight win streak will see Lipski (11-3) ride into the UFC on a full head of steam. The Brazilian has seven finishes in that span.

Popular Joanne Calderwood (12–3) got back into the win column in August at UFC Lincoln with a win over Kalindra Faria. That snapped a two-fight skid for the Scottish fighter. Calderwood currently sits at 4-3 in the UFC, and has been training of late with Syndicate MMA.

UFC 233 takes place January 26 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Ben Askren vs. Robbie Lawler is also expected to take place on the highly anticipated PPV card.
