Living up to his ‘Last Stylebender’ name, Israel Adesanya mixed up his attacks and put on a striking clinic at UFC 230, utterly demolishing opponent Derek Brunson. In doing so, he not only gained fans among the masses, but with the pros as well.

Israel Adesanya came into the UFC at the crest of a wave of hype. Through three fights prior to UFC 230, he’d held up his end — but Derek Brunson, who ‘The Last Stylebender’ faced Saturday in New York, was seen as a step up. A true test of where the talented kickboxer stood in the deep UFC middleweight division.

Soon enough, UFC fans and the MMA world at large had their answer. Adesanya passed the test with flying colors, lighting Brunson up on the feet, shrugging off his takedowns, and utterly demolishing the dangerous Brunson. Within a round.

Keep in mind that Brunson came into the fight off knockouts of Dan Kelly and Lyoto Machida. He also held stoppages over Ed Herman, Sam Alvey, and Uriah Hall, among others. To Adesanya, however, it mattered not. He battered Brunson so thoroughly it looked like a training session.

There was no question that the pros were going to be impressed just as much as the fans, and you can see their reaction below.
