Derrick Lewis entertained as only Derrick Lewis can at UFC 229, cementing his place as the MVP of post-fight interviews after knocking out Alexander Volkov.

Derrick Lewis is frankly one of the most entertaining characters in the UFC, and it’s not just the knockouts. Sure, he finishes like few other fighters do. He stalks the heavyweight division like a beast, frankly. Yet he also has a wry sense of humor surprising from a fighter who was simply big and scary when he entered the promotion several years back.

At UFC 229, Lewis put both his scary side, and his funny side, on display. Facing the formidable Alexander Volkov, Lewis was rocked several times throughout the bout. He appeared to have injuries to one eye, or possibly both. He came close to going down on a couple of occasions, but somehow stayed standing. And then, with little over ten seconds left in the fight, he dropped Volkov with a crushing punch. Lewis landed several more destructive blows on his downed opponent, earning himself an impressive come from behind victory.

And then came the post-fight interview. Minus his shorts, which he stripped off. Why? “My balls was hot,” he told Joe Rogan. As for fighting for the title? He admitted he needed better cardio. Lewis also claimed he won the fight for President Trump. Yes, that’s right. “Donald Trump called me a few hours before the fight told me to knock this Russian muthaf*cka out,” he joked, adding “f*ck Putin, USA in this hoe.” Or something of that nature. Wow.
