Saturday, September 1 saw Invicta FC get the month started in style with Invicta FC 31. Going down at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City, MO, the show was topped by Virna Jandiroba successfully defending her strawweight title for the first time. Challenging was fellow Brazilian Janaisa Morandin, who was overcome via rear-naked choke in the second round of the main event.
Other standouts on the card included Pearl Gonzalez, who improved to 3-0 since being cut from the UFC. With three wins in Invicta FC including her last two at flyweight, she’s quickly poised to become a contender at 125lbs.
Also at flyweight, Miranda Maverick got back in the win column, bouncing back nicely from the first loss of her professional career. Maverick was able to catch opponent Victoria Leonardo in an arm-bar to secure the finish. And at strawweight, teenage sensation Kay Hansen got back in the win column as well, scoring a late TKO win over Helen Peralta.
