The UFC crowned its second “champ champ” as Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic of the first round of UFC 226 in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

After a lackluster affair in the UFC 226 co-main event, Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier were looked upon to cap off an otherwise exciting night of fights. With former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar watching from the crowd, Cormier, the UFC light heavyweight champion, was looking to claim the heavyweight title from Miocic, and become the promotion’s second-ever simultaneous dual-weight champion.

Miocic might have been the best heavyweight champion in UFC history. Yet to Cormier, that mattered not. The former Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner and UFC 205lb king was a little slow getting going, but he hit home when it counted. Coming out of a clinch, Cormier cracked Miocic with a punch, dropping him. Stipe Miocic hit the floor, and just a few more strikes finished him off. The ref waved it off, and Daniel Cormier was the new ‘champ champ’ in the UFC. An insane turn of events, going from Jon Jones defeating him for the title, only for DC to have it returned as Jones failed his drug tests, then defending the light heavyweight title against Volkan Oezdemir and now capturing heavyweight gold.

DC called out Lesnar following the fight, which led to a shoving match. There’ll be plenty of reaction to that, but let’s see the pros react to D.C’s history making win!
